Christine Harris – Volunteer

My name is Christine and have been involved with the Centre just prior to it moving to its present venue. I supported fundraising, facilitated free training for the volunteers and did what I could to help in any way. Then one day I had to walk into the centre and announce I had just received a diagnosis myself of Breast Cancer. My world fell apart, but in the days following the diagnosis the centre became mine and my husband Ian’s lifeline.

In the months ahead, during treatment the centre and its family were there for us, advice, guidance, support, laughter, and therapies – we couldn’t have asked for more.

It’s been a rough journey and one that we couldn’t have achieved without the centre and so now it’s time to continue my journey of support for the Centre and become a volunteer. I have varied skills and hope to be able to utilise some of these within my role.
