Sally Hancox – Volunteer

I found out about TWCSC during lockdown whilst searching for places to volunteer. I was looking and applying for work but felt I could still volunteer some time. Most people know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way so I hoped I could help in some small way. I approached Paula in June 2021 but due to lockdowns and home schooling was unable to start until October 2021.

It’s a lovely, warm and friendly place for people to attend and I love helping out on the craft days as I get to be creative whilst making sure everyone has a drink, just the way they like it, and usually a sweet treat of a cake or biscuit too.

I’m now also happily working as a Clinical Administrator at St Giles Hospice but still enjoy volunteering one day a week as it helps me relax and I enjoy seeing regular faces and having a chat and giggle.  Going forward I also hope to be involved with raising awareness of the centre and doing more fundraising.
